Des Moines International Airport Terminal Expansion

The Weitz Company is part of the Construction Manager at Risk (CMaR) joint venture team delivering the new terminal at Des Moines International Airport, a major transformation of the airport’s infrastructure.

Spanning more than 360,000 square feet, the new terminal will enhance the passenger experience through upgraded ticketing areas, advanced baggage handling and screening systems, additional concessions, and improved passenger amenities.

The project also includes a skyway connection to the expanded parking garage, a link to the existing concourse, a new energy plant, and a new office building.

The Weitz joint venture team is also delivering Phases 1A, 1B West, and 1B East of the expansion program. Together, these phases will increase the total number of boarding gates from five to eleven, supporting the airport’s long-term growth, connectivity, and capacity requirements.
