Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Centre

The Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Center in 6th of October City, Egypt is the largest cardiac healthcare facility in the Middle East and Africa.

The center will have the capacity to treat over 120,000 patients annually and will triple Egypt’s cardiac surgery capacity from 4,000 to 12,000 annually, making it the largest cardiac healthcare facility in the Middle East and Africa. In addition, the hospital has the largest proportion of beds dedicated to intensive care.

Designed by Norman Foster, the project features an iconic architectural design, including its distinctive shell roofs, which required advanced engineering, digital modeling, and specialized construction techniques.

The complex comprises a 304-bed hospital and cutting-edge research hub dedicated to cardiovascular care. Spanning a built-up area of 90,000 m² and a footprint of 23,730 m², the facility includes six operating theaters and four catheterization labs.

Construction of the facility was been completed in 2025.

Orascom Construction’s scope encompassed the full construction of the hospital building’s superstructure, the energy center, internal and external finishing, MEP works, FF&E, interior design, infrastructure and utility networks, site roads, and landscaping — excluding medical equipment. The project achieved an exceptional safety milestone of 20 million safe man-hours without lost-time injuries (LTI).
