Life Care Services
Sagewood is a luxury, life plan community located in Phoenix, Arizona. The Weitz Company’s partnership with Life Care Services at Sagewood spans over a decade. The first phase of construction began in 2008 with 289 independent living units in the form of apartments and casitas, alongside the construction of the Acacia Health Center. Sagewood’s first phase, completed in 2010, featured approximately 905,100 square feet of construction and included much of the community’s main infrastructure.
In May 2016, Weitz led an expansion to Acacia Health Center. Sixty beds were added to the center, including a new 20-bed memory care neighborhood and 40 additional skilled nursing suites. New amenities added to Acacia included three new neighborhood dining rooms, three activity kitchens, three neighborhood living areas and an expanded rehabilitative therapy center with new in-patient and out-patient areas. The expansion also included new offices, administration, medicine dispensary and utility and laundry rooms, as well as a new outdoor patio with a fountain in the memory care area.
The 18,500-square-foot Oasis multi-purpose events center was completed in January 2018. This versatile building has a performing arts area and meeting rooms that allow residents to enjoy concerts, lectures, and special events, while also enabling the Sagewood staff opportunities to host employee meetings. With the capacity to accommodate up to 400 people, The Oasis boasts a full-service kitchen and state of the art audio-visual system. The main events room has an operable wall with a high Sound Transmission Class rating that splits the space in half or into thirds. Each meeting room, no matter how they are divided, has its own projector and sound system complete with hearing loops that allow hearing aids to be connected via Bluetooth.
Sagewood added Desert Willow Assisted Living to its community in July 2018. The two-story assisted living community offers luxurious, modern one- and two-bedroom apartment homes. Community amenities include a formal, restaurant-style dining room; fitness area; outdoor patios; secure courtyard; central living room; computer area; library; chapel; and family areas for private dining.
In 2019, LCS added and additional 101 independent living units to the campus. The addition included one and two bedroom apartments, an 18-hole championship golf putting course and new dining facilities in the Palo Verde Dining, Canyon Café and the Owl’s Nest Restaurant.
In addition to the residences and health center, the 85-acre community provides a wide range of services and amenities for its residents, which includes a fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools, clubhouse, movie theater, salon, and multi-purpose facility. Weitz continues to partner with Life Care Services on exciting expansions and renovations on the campus to further bolster Sagewood’s reputation as the premiere life plan community in the Southwest.
