Iowa, USA
General Contractor, Construction Manager
The headquarters for Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield consisted of a five-level, 603,000-square-foot office building with two levels of underground parking located on two city blocks. A separate 67,000-square-foot building provides a daycare, fitness center and central plant facility alongside a 12-level, 602,000-square-foot parking ramp on an adjacent city block.
The underground parking levels are cast-in-place concrete and the upper office levels are steel structure with slab-on-deck. The parking ramp is a cast-in-place, post-tension structure. Both buildings are enclosed by curtainwall, limestone veneer and punched window openings.
Weitz self-performed all concrete and carpentry work for this project.
At the time of construction, this was the largest commercial office building in the world to receive LEED Platinum status.
