West Damietta Power Plant

West Damietta Power Plant was completed on a fast-track basis along with Assiut Power Plant, adding a combined 1,500 MW to Egypt's national grid in record time, with first power connecting in 6 months.

Both of these power plants were converted by the consortium to combined cycle on an EPC + Finance basis whereby the consortium helped structure and arrange the financing on behalf of the client, the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company. This conversion increased total production capacity of the two plants by 50% to 2,250 MW.

Engineering, supply, installation, erection, commissioning and startup of a 500 MW simple cycle power project (4 x frame 9E) located in West Damietta.

Scope of Orascom Construction included carrying out all the engineering, construction, start-up and commissioning works for the complete power plant as well as the balance of plant “BOP” procurement.

Conversion scope: Engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) for the complete scope including one (1) D202 steam turbine generator, four (4) heat recovery steam generators, one (1) air cooled condenser and associated auxiliaries, balance of plant material and all civil works in connection with the conversion of the West Damietta simple cycle conversion into combined cycle.
