Orascom Construction Achieves Major Safety Milestone at Burullus Power Plant in Egypt

Orascom Construction Limited (NASDAQ Dubai: OC; EGX: ORAS) is proud to announce that it has exceeded 40 million man-hours without Lost Time Injury (LTI) at Burullus Power Plant in Egypt. This major milestone highlights the Group’s commitment to the highest levels of safety and training while setting a new global benchmark for the fast-track execution of power projects.

Construction of the project commenced in October 2015 and is progressing ahead of schedule despite several challenges ranging from immense site preparation to severe weather conditions due to the project’s location. Once complete, Burullus Power Plant will be one of the largest natural gas-fired combined cycle power plants in the world with a capacity of 4,800 MW.

Scope of Orascom Construction (OC) included carrying out all engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work for the entire project. Testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning were also included in the scope of OC jointly with OEM who supplied the Gas Turbines, HRSG and Steam Turbines.
