Orascom Construction Appoints Omar Bebars CEO of Building Materials Division

Orascom Construction PLC (NASDAQ Dubai: OC; EGX: ORAS) announces that it has appointed Omar Bebars as Chief Executive Officer of the Building Materials division.

Mr. Bebars will report to Mr. Osama Bishai—Chief Executive Officer of Orascom Construction PLC—and will oversee all of the Group’s subsidiaries in building materials across industries complementary to construction such as steel fabrication, glass curtain walling, chemicals, paints and concrete pipes. He has also been a Board member of all of these subsidiaries as Orascom Construction’s representative for several years.

Mr. Bebars held various positions at the Group since joining in 2009. Most recently, he was Chief Financial Officer of the Middle East & Africa operations and Group Financial Controller.

The Group’s Building Materials subsidiaries include National Steel Fabrication, Alico Egypt, SCIB Chemicals, Egyptian Gypsum Company, A-build, BASF Chemical, DryMix, National Pipes Company and Suez Industrial Development Company. These entities generated total revenue of USD 321 million in FY 2019.
