Orascom Construction Sponsors Egypt’s Brightest Students to Study at Leading U.S. Universities for the 26th Consecutive Year

Orascom Construction is proud to announce that it has awarded full scholarships to three outstanding Egyptian students under the Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program. The students will pursue undergraduate degrees at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Chicago.

This year marks the 26th consecutive cycle of the Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program. Since its launch in 2000, and in partnership with the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development, the program has awarded 105 scholarships to Egyptian students. Previous recipients have studied at leading U.S. institutions, including Harvard University, Stanford University, the University of Chicago, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the University of Pennsylvania.

The Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program supports both undergraduate and graduate students in fields that contribute to Egypt’s economic development. The scholarship covers full tuition, living expenses, travel allowance, and health insurance. Students are selected based on merit, need, and character, demonstrated through academic excellence, extracurricular engagement, and entrepreneurial initiative.

The program is one of the Company’s flagship education initiatives, reflecting its long-standing commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders through education, contributing to Egypt’s development. As such, the Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program requires students to return to Egypt upon completion of their degrees.
