A now-extinguished, limited fire erupted at 1:00 PM today, April 29, on the base of the scaffolding around a limited area of the external rear façade of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza. The fire was controlled in under one hour, and no injuries resulted from this event.
In addition, there is no damage to any permanent part of the building and the fire did not approach any artefacts.
The Company acknowledges the support and swift response of the Ministry of Antiquities, fire department and military forces in this event.
