Sfax Seawater Desalination Plant

The Sfax Seawater Desalination Plant was officially inaugurated in June 2026, marking a major milestone in strengthening Tunisia’s water infrastructure. An Orascom Construction consortium completed the EPC scope and is now executing the Operation & Maintenance phase.

The plant’s capacity is expandable to 200,000 m³/day of potable water, serving up to one million residents in the Sfax region of Tunisia.

The EPC project scope included approximately 12 kilometers of marine pipeline works offshore in the sea, along with 4,000 piles supporting the project’s buildings and structures.

This project builds on our leadership in the water infrastructure, building on a portfolio of water, desalination, and wastewater treatment projects completed and under construction with a combined capacity exceeding 17 million m³/day across the region.
