Orascom Construction (NASDAQ Dubai: OC; EGX: ORAS) announces that it has added 250 MW to Egypt’s national power grid at West Damietta power plant two weeks ahead of schedule. Early completion of Phase I ensures that the additional power capacity is available for peak demand during Ramadan.
OC is part of a consortium building Assiut and West Damietta power plants on a fast-track basis. Once complete, Assiut and West Damietta power plants will have a power generation capacity of 1,000 MW and 500 MW, respectively.
Orascom Construction has now added a total of 925 MW to Egypt’s national power grid during May and June 2015 at Assiut, West Damietta and 6th of October City Phase II power plants.
